Thank you for your interest in The Lemon Tree House.
The Lemon Tree House is the passion project of three couples (and best friends) from Toronto, Canada, Dave and Rebecca, Adham and Lisa and Damon and Michelle. The villa was constructed almost entirely during the covid-19 pandemic, with us managing the project and communicating with our builder (the local master builder, Papa George), by regular WhatsApp video calls!
The name for The Lemon Tree House was inspired by the name of the home in Bermuda where Adham and Lisa spent some career time in the late 1990/early 2000s and where they started their family. Our original plan was to import a feature lemon tree to greet guests on the way up the driveway. It was only AFTER the villa was named that we realized that it is not possible to import citrus trees to Exuma! So we have planted local key lime and persian lime trees on the property and Dave is working on importing pathogen-free lemon scions to graft onto the key lime rootstock to transmogrify them into lemon trees. We have planted many other fruit trees on the property (bananas, mangos, cherries, avocado), which we hope to mature and produce edible fruit in the years to come. We hope that our guests will be able to enjoy the bounty of the gardens as the fruit trees mature and bear fruit.
The owners have travelled together in big groups for many years, often with their young families, renting large villas in various areas in the carribean. We designed and furnished the Lemon Tree House with the benefit of those travel experiences, incorporating our favourite aspects of the many places we have visited. We believe that we have created a perfect place for a family gathering, group of couples celebrating a milestone, or even a small wedding.
